After 26 years of daily driving, Nancy's undercarriage was long overdue for a wash. We knew we needed a professional with some pretty powerful tools to get the job done correctly.
We decided to give sanjoseautosteamcleaning.com a shot. They told us over the phone that their 100psi pressure steam washer did wonders for old neglected cars.
Here's an angle of what it looked like from under the vehicle. You can see our tech going to town, washing away all the gunk and built-up debris under engine bay and front suspension components. Getting the car on a lift is key when washing the underbody.
We were pleased with the results and would recommend a service like this for anyone serious about restoring a car. It'll also makes things a lot cleaner to work with when we start to replace our old suspension parts.
One thing to note is that the pressure from the sprayer will inevitably knock off some of the car's original underbody coating. This is something we'll need address when we bring the car in for bodywork and paint.
Next up, engine bay wash!
