All sunroofs eventually stop working. This is due in part to the sliding mechanism that's always moving up and down, and in our case moving up and down for the last 25 years.
The condition of our roof was surprisingly in good shape. The roof closed and sealed properly, not letting any water in during the big storm we just experienced in March.
The problem was actually when we tried to fully retract the roof. The damn thing kept getting misaligned each time we tried to close it after a full open. Time to remove the roof and figure it out.
Although the rubber was a little worn, the overall condition of the rails were in good shape. This meant the problem was likely caused by the something attached to the roof itself. Stay tuned for updates.
